Real Faces ~ Real Lives ~ Real Disease ~ Real Prevention ~ Get Immunized
Meningitis Angels is a national 501(c)3 publicly supported organization founded in memory of Ryan Wayne Milley, the only child of Bob and Frankie Milley.  Ryan had just graduated high school, reached pro golf status and was preparing for college. Meningococcal meningitis took his life in less than 14 hours after the first onset of complaints and signs of an earache and a fever.

He would not have been living in a dorm. Like the majority of  college freshmen Ryan would have been living off campus.

We fool ourselves to think only college freshmen living in dorms are at risk for meningococcal meningitis. Worse, we miss the fact that infants, children, teens and all young adults can be at risk for this deadly debilitating disease.  There are  vaccines.  The vaccines prevents 4 of the 5 major strains causing disease in the US.  Group B is not covered currently in the US. However there is a vaccine on the horizon.

Infants and toddlers are at risk for pneumococcal and HIB meningitis.  African American, American Indian and Eskimo children are at higher risk.  Both vaccine preventable.

Today Angels host over 600 families across America and some 50 abroad. Sadly we are still growing. We are dedicated to those survivors of meningitis and their families including those families who have lost loved ones.  We offer education and awareness through our website and printed materials.  We offer hands on support to those member children under 18 as funding is available. Our chat rooms and message boards offer moral support to all who need it.  Please explore our website and educate yourself.  Please join with and donate to Angels and help stop this deadly disease.  We welcome you to share your meningitis stories and become part of our organization.  Photo Left: Ryan Milley
Angels Lead Texas Advocacy to Require  Meningitis Immunizations for 7th Grade Entry.

Frankie Milley, after the death of her son Ryan, has led the meningitis advocacy in Texas and around the US since 2001 for both meningococcal and pneumococcal meningitis. With Angels Leslie  and Harley at her side, in Texas  from the beginning and in the recent years Joan Vasbinder after the loss of her son Vincent, they have managed to help create some of the strongest policy on meningitis and immunizations in the country.
