Real Faces, Real Lives, Real Diseases, Real Prevention, Get Immunized!

College students aren't the only ones at risk for meningitis. Be informed infants, children and teens are also  at high risk for meningococcal meningitis.

According to ACIP/CDC, children ages eleven (11) years through college freshmen should be vaccinated against meningococcal meningitis. Be aware that there are five (5) different serogroups within the disease, and all the serogroups are not covered by this vaccine.  However, serogroups C & Y, the most common serogroups among infants, toddlers, and college students in the United States are covered.

Infants and toddlers should be vaccinated against pneumococcal meningitis.  Those children in daycare and those of American Indian and African American heritage are at a higher risk for pneumococcal meningitis.

There are no vaccines to prevent viral meningitis.

Meningitis Angels is a nonprofit organization, founded in memory of, Ryan Milley who died from meningococcal meningitis. We are comprised of survivors, their families and families of those whose lives were taken by meningitis from the United States and abroad.  We offer the latest education, news, requirements for immunizations, research on meningitis, and web pages filled with personal stories of courage, love, survival and faith.   Our international chat rooms and message boards offer a strong support group.  We strive to educate the public, policy makers, healthcare professionals, all school age children, college students and daycare providers on bacterial meningitis and the vaccines to prevent it. Educate yourself:

Some hands on services are available for those children under (18) who qualify as funding is available. We network for help through other organizations for all survivors.
