Sweet Emily with her Angel Bear from Frankie and Meningitis Angels

Dearest Frankie, thank you a million times. What a special morning it was today, Emily was so excited to receive a parcel. We read her name and I helped her to read the address and it was a treat to watch her open!! The American sweeties are so different from any we get here. Gillie said they smell of Canada, where my sister lived for 12 years, and she's right. Emily thinks they are yummy and she is keeping most of them until Chris gets home from Summer Camp so she can share the treat.

I just got some decals on the back of my truck. I hope they are ok? Thank you so much for every thing you have done for us Frankie. Jenny, Jayden & I you know will do all we can to support the "Angels" whenever you need us.

Leiloni/Missouri

Leiloni was left blind from meningitis. Her most missed activity from this was not being able to read her Bible. Angels networked to obtain her a Bible in Braille and some great books.

Aiden Hall/ Texas

Aiden is 11 months old. Meningitis has left him legally blind, deaf, brain damaged and damage to the pituitary gland causing him to grow at an abnormal rate.

Angels provided special diapers, some new clothes, toys to stimulate his eyes and coordination and is working on a lift for him to help mom bath her big beautiful baby boy.

It was nice to finally meet with you Frankie. Nice to put a face with the emails.

I would also like to thank everyone that has donated to the Angels family. Frankie had brought some items for Aiden The diapers for Aiden were greatly needed since he has grown out off the largest size they make , the outfits fit him perfect size 4T is the size for now and hopefully for awhile and the little toys. Again thank you so much this all was and is greatly appreciated.

Chris

Chris had meningitis at birth . It left him with learning disabilities and nerve damage in his right hand. He is 6 years old now and having a hard time in school. Angels provided him with Leap Pad and the programs in reading and math to help him with his education.

Harley

Meningitis left Harley with amputations of her foot and lower leg and some fingers, kidney damage and total deafness. Angels purchased Harley a FM Hearing System to help her hear better with her aides and help her with her school work.

Angels wishes to give a special thanks to Hearing Systems of Houston and owner Les for their discounts .

Amanda

Meningitis left Amanda paralyzed for a while, totally blind, and organ damaged. Angels purchased Amanda a new computer and a JAWS program. Now Amanda can enter the world of computers with the sited .

Dear Frankie, I wanted to thank you and all the members of Meningitis Angels for helping Amanda get a new computer and the Jaws program. They were hooking it up in her dorm room over spring break. I haven't got to talk to her yet to confirm this happened but am sure it probably did. She was whispering to other students that she got a new computer and the Jaws program while you were there. I think she is very excited to some more added freedom to express herself and being more independent. Christine Amanda's mom.

Sherry

Meningitis left Sherry with visual and hearing impairment, paralyzed, organ damage including severe lung damage. Sherry has recurring pneumonia because of the lung damage. Angels provided her with a nebulizer/breathing machine. (thanks to Wendy and Jody and Health Quest Pharmacy)

Dear Frankie and Wendy, Thank You Both and Angels very much for the nebulizer. My doctor says this will keep me from getting pneumonia and trips to ICU. I love you all at Angels, Sherry

NEWS Frankie, Wendy and Leslie (EBA) just returned from Atlanta, Center For Disease Control (CDC) .

Because of the work of Dr. Paul Offit, Along with other parents, including EBA Pat's dad, Mike Kepferle, we were able to convince CDC to lower the recommendation of education on meningitis and the vaccines to adolescents. Leslie gave a great testimony Leslie's Speech to the CDC Committee on infectious diseases. This is something many of us have been working on for several years. Hopefully we will see this happen in the next year.

Frankie and HBA Mom Terri attended the National Child Care Conference and educated several hundred daycare administrators and owners on meningitis, symptoms and preventives.

Frankie attended the Magnolia School District Health and Education Fair in late April and educated the district students, teachers parents and community at large on meningitis.

Frankie along with other Angel Parents has been working all over the country to

educate legislators on the disease and the vaccine. She also has been working with the Texas legislation childhood immunization issues.

We Started a new Research Project on the after health of Meningitis to be completed December 2006.

*Angels will be starting a new nutritional educational program soon for those Angels surviving meningitis. This will be headed by our EBA Lindsey Grey.

Frankie has begun educating local schools and daycares on not only meningitis but preventing infectious disease in the day care/school setting. She is also working with children's health and immunization awareness groups, around the US. For handouts on education for your school or daycare e-mail Frankie

Frankie was the keynote speaker at the Permian Basin Texas Child Care Conference in Midland/September 2003. This conference educated over 400 people on meningitis and preventions in the day care setting.

Frankie spoke at the televised Houston Children's Health and Immunization Summit educating countless numbers of people in the Texas area on meningitis and why immunization and education is so important.

The Walk-A-Thon in New Jersey hosted by the Senyk Family in memory of Alexa not only raised money for Angels but educated some 200-300 walkers on meningitis and vaccines for it. Other Angel Families who attended were EBA Carye , EBA Johnny, and HBA Ryan's mom and dad were their to educate and brought their foreign exchange student from the Chez Republic, Tomas

Things To Come

Funding available, we hope to have an educational video out in the fall for schools, daycares and others.

We will soon start a new Children's Chat for Earth Bound Angel Children, hosted by EBA Leslie.
