Meningitis Laws Around the Country "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference." Reinhold Niebuhr Because of the courage of survivors and parents who love beyond their own children, we can change minds and ideas to protect those who will come. Below are meningitis bills and laws. (32) states have now passed laws on meningitis. These are mostly for college kids except for New York and Texas. Though they do not protect all of our children they are the best we have. We continue to educate. One day this disease will be eradicated. Many of us have lost much in our Heaven Bound Angels. Many of us fight daily to care for and get help for our, Earth Bound Angels. These are things we cannot change. Frankie Milley

Several Parents and family including, Wendy Meigs, Linda Williams Donna, Carolyn Waghorne and Earth Bound Angels Leslie Meigs and Harley Beaty, help to advocate it into law. This made Texas the first to have such a bill to educate all children. SB 31 was one of the fastest bills to ever pass in Texas....and one of the first signed by Governor Perry after taking office. The bill was initiated through the efforts of Gerri and Jerry Greenwell, who lost a son to meningitis last year. Prior to their sons illness the Greenwells were unaware of the existence of a meningitis vaccine, which could potentially have prevented their son from developing the disease. They became determined to help keep other parents from going through what they did. We are so proud of you for your work in memory of your precious Jerry. Maryland ~ May 2000! John and Ginny Gardner help to write and lobby this bill into law in memory of their, Heaven Bound Angel, Jesse. This was a ground braking law and requires vaccination or signed waiver for incoming college dorm students. Their love and dedication inspired many of us to have the courage to make a difference. We love you. Vaccination or Signed Waiver Law passed in May of 2000
